Default 34 ford radiator where to purchase?

I need a radiator for my 34 ford with a flathead engine. I hear that Brass Works Radiators are a good choice. I also would like to know if I need to use a pressure CAP. And how much pressure to run. I am at 5500 feet elevation in the town of Gardnerville, Nevada. Last time this engine ran was in the Bay Area Stock Radiator no pressure cap, No problems over heating. Thank for any imput! Stan

BrassWorks is who I would use and if you go with the stock configuration it does not use a pressure cap.

Brassworks is the best, and given the apparent quality of your car, it deserves the best.

As J says Brass works is a good choice, also Brass Works will build it how ever you want. He’ll make it totally to stock spec or make it look stock but pressurized with a pressure cap. He’ll add rows for additional cooling also.

I think the pressurized ones relocate the filler neck.

Question? Why would you think you need to pressurize it on a regular car? If it's clean and new, it'll flow well. You could just put a 4lb cap like the later flatheads.

I'm not even sure a 4 lb cap is a good idea on the stock type upper tank. Because of the size (surface area) it is easy to balloon it or at the least tin-can it with heat cycles and fatigue the metal.

JSeery I don't think that would happen with a overflow tube. There is very little material construction difference of a 34 rad and a 38 radiator. As long as the overflow tube is relative to the the pressure cap. I agree I don't think there is a huge difference with a 4lb cap.

I wouldn't use one, but that is just me.

Brassworks set up my 35.
The overflow tube is set up to take a 3-4# valve. The stock system isn’t designed to take a pressure cap.
The valve does not allow enough pressure to affect a stock tank in good condition. They can install the threaded fitting & you can add valve later.
They also restore radiators, if your tanks/frame are in good condition he will install a more efficient tube/fin design.
Runs really well.
They don’t run a high production shop, his craftsmen do one at a time, piece by piece.
There is a guy in your town working on early brass cars, ask Jeff- he knows the guys at BW
