Rear main cap
On the rear main cap of my 1941 85HP engine, there is a threaded opening. On the V 12 engine there is a pipe with a check valve ball in it that threads into that hole. My Ford V8 is missing the pipe, so I don't know if that is supposed to have a check valve in it or not. I seem to remember reading that the pipe and check valve stop oil from running out the slinger if the car is parked facing up a steep hill. Since I had no pipe in my rear main cap to begin with, what are the advantages of adding a pipe? Thanks in advance for your answer.
