Re: Walker Radiator
I am not a distributor but got the same message - aren’t they the same folks who own the nsra or at least the major sponsor?
Sorry to hear this - a really good product ...... |

Re: Walker Radiator
Vern Walker was a co-founder of NSRA, I believe just prior to the 2nd Street Rod Nationals held in Memphis in 1971. I was there! The FIRST "Nationals" was the previous year and amounted to 600+ cars in a field in Peoria. Memphis was a 'big deal'......almost 1,400 cars if I remember correctly. DD

Re: Walker Radiator
We had a local show here this past summer, over 600 cars.
If someone is looking for a Walker radiator, I'll bet there are several in the "pipeline" at different Vendors across the country. JMO Paul in CT |

Re: Walker Radiator
The NSRA was started at the behest of Tom Medley of Rod & Custom magazine by Ardun guru Cotton Werksman and Bruce Miller who was the publisher of the old Street Rod magazine. As the association grew it got too large for Cotton, who was building cars and engines and Miller with his magazine to handle, that was when Vernon Walker and someone else who’s name escapes me bought it.
Medley was with Petersen Publishing and they would not fund the staff and office space to run a growing national organization, but apparently Walker saw the opportunity and stepped in. The original window decal had one of Cotton’s early hot rods, a channeled ‘32 5 window and the slogan under it was “Fun With Cars”.

Re: Walker Radiator
I have to say I'm thankful that I recently joined the site.
My 37' had a small leak in the Walker radiator that was installed some 25 years ago and I had it repaired at a local shop. They got it fixed but I was worried that it was going to be a problem in the near future. I have been told that radiators often fail from the inside out and by the time you know what is going on it keeps leaking in new spots. I ordered a new one from Speedway and got it yesterday. It was in perfect condition. It brought a little tear to my eye when I opened it. I installed the previous one when I was in my 20's and I turn 52 tomorrow. I still have the receipt for it. How time flies. |
