Default 38-41 Pickup Body to Frame Bolts

There are 4 bolts in this kit that have springs. Are they absolutely needed for a nonstick build or can I just bolt the cab down without them?

Thanks .....

It's your choice. The frontmost and rearmost bolts get the springs. Imagine a 40 or so pickup back in the day driving along rough, potholed, wallowed out dirt roads, twisting one way then the other. The frames do twist. The springs allow the frame to twist without transferring all of that twist into the cab.

So your choice. If the frame is much stiffer than stock you might be ok without the springs, but in my opinion, you might as well use them unless there is a good reason not to.

Mart.

Thanks for responding, Mart - truck will have a 300hp motor and the frame has been modified and stiffened. So, I think I can do without them .....

Thank you!

I removed the springs on mine as they allowed the cab to move around too much and it would squeak and drive me nuts. Bolted her down tight and 20 years later nothing has broken.

Frames twisted/flexed with the roads of yesterday. Cabs had the front area with springs to allow for some durability in road surface and frame flex. Same with the radiator and bed. Various spots.

The bolts with the springs should not be loose, there are frame welping also. So not much squeak that I'm aware of.

You're probably just fine today in how roads are and how we use them. Don't think I'd worry much anyway since you boxed the frame. It's a better frame then a model a.

T's flexed even better...

I had all the proper anti squeak welting and it still squeaked. Maybe new, stiffer springs and nylon washers would be the way to go if you wanted to retain the original setup.

The original springs have a rate of 880 lbs, so they should move much under normal driving conditions.
