Front Crank Seal Direction

I am a bit confused here I have purchased from Snyder's a front crank seal- now which way does it go on? - could some one please give me a good description on this or a diagram or hand drawing or something to eliminate any doubt, I have had varied pieces of advice and thus the confusion.
