Default A parts supply stores Q.

I’ve been out of buying gaskets and other A parts , for years.
Which West Coast supplier do you buy from now ?

I was big fan of Sacramento Ford for years. Got catalogues back then. They haven’t sent me anything in recent years. Maybe out of business ??

Just looking to update info, on who gives you satisfaction with parts/ service ?

Bert's. Real deal on shipping charges. Other's inflate. Know their stuff too.

My experience:

Mac's has a good selection but shipping to the west coast (from Florida) takes too long for me, week+, and I've had poor performance from FedEx. Good catalogue. Hard to negotiate the website. Difficult to get through to customer service via either phone or email.

Bratton's has good advice, knowledgeable, lots of good advice in the catalogue. Very personable on the phone, good customer relations about orders (they call if there's a question, etc.)

Snyder's has better delivery to the west coast than either of the east coast suppliers (Mac's or Bratton's). Also good selection, knowledgeable.

Haven't tried Bert's yet but good feedback, will try on my next sizable order.

Haven't tried Sacramento Vintage Ford.

I miss my old favorite, Mal's A Sales in Pacheco, CA but they've been out of business for years.

I recently had a great experience with Smith & Jones Model A
http://www.snjparts.com/

I've also ordered from Snyder's & Bratton's and been satisfied as well.

Me either. They came up via a Google search. I called and a very nice woman answered. Said would call me back to make sure everything was in stock and she did. Shipping was at cost and super quick. I received my stuff in 2 days to NJ.

Definitely give them a try.

Hey d,
I hear that. I guess they feel that a catalogue is worthwhile. Although I think some are ‘on-line’ ?
I’m into looking at book/catalogue. Not very much computer guy.
Most probably have never seen a Sac Vintage Ford ...Master Catalogue !
That was HUGE, and work of art for A / B shoppers. I spent hours with that, as they had great displayed items, color, pictures...wonderful book !
I always gave them big orders !
Even went up there couple times to buy BIG stuff, fenders, etc.
Neat ‘50s soda jerk sit down to eat type thing that they made with cars.. the works !!

The good old days !!
Wonder what happened. Towards my last visit, inventory was in the can. Also to get an inform help had gone away.

I am in the south-east and have been buying from Snyders. They are fast and have a good online presence. A friend in California recommended Bert's. I just bought some things from them. They have good used parts that are sometimes better than the repos. You have to ask via a telephone call or email as the used parts are not listed on their website.

As a side note, I would like to personally thank all the parts suppliers and all the other online retailers for all the packing material and cardboard boxes. Really nice for starting fires on these cold mornings.

They probably just used one ox, and skipped the redundancy of the second ox. [emoji13]

Some of those peanuts are actually made of extruded starch. Which means they dissolve in water and can be composted. You can tell by taking one and putting it under the faucet for a brief time. If it gets gooey and sticky then it's starch, if it maintains its beautiful (?) shape it's probably plastic.

A downside to starch is - if your delivery driver leaves the package out in the rain and water gets inside, not only do your parts get wet but they get entombed in sticky bletch. Don't ask how I know that one ...

The styrofoam peanuts are not bad with a little salt and lots of butter. The starch ones taste a little better.

Hardtimes,

The first time I went to C.W. Moss, about 6 years ago, I asked for a catalog and they gave me one that must have been published in the ‘70’s or ‘80’s. The guy said it was the same as their on-line catalog, the only difference was the prices.

Don’t forget the Early Ford Store in San Dimas. I go there for small stuff. The Early Ford Store carries some stuff from Snyder’s. I bought some deluxe stanchions for my ‘30 Roadster there. They also have used original parts too.

I like to support California businesses.

Hey David,
I’ll second supporting GOOD Ca businesses.
Today, I received a box of parts. I only ordered them YESTERDAY !
CW Moss must have boxes and sent within the hour. I like that.
Ive also patronized the Early Ford Store for many years. Too far to drive.. for me.

Another good OLD TIMEY Ford Store :
Specialty FORD Parts , Rosemead Ca.
I got the last Riley 4-Port gaskets that owner Jim Gordon had ... upstairs.. ha. New old stock. One of my 4E4 friends lives nearby. He helped Jim move into this place decades ago !!
