Default buyer's beware #2

Does anyone know FordBarn member LukeDahlinger aka Richard Snell of Lakeland Florida? I sent him a check for a 1930 dash rail over two months ago. After numerous phone calls and PMs to him, I still haven't received the dash rail. I hate to think that a member of this forum is either very ill or scamming.

Yeah, this guy has already been exposed here. Do a search on his name.

I bought some parts from him 6 or 7 years ago. He was really slow to ship the parts. Eventully I got them. There are several posts about him on the early V8 forum in the last several months. I did not read them all, but likely best to do a search and make a decesion from there. Rod

I sent him $355.60 in July, for a new 6.1 head and two blade fan.
After many requests, I have not received the parts, or a refund.

if a member develops a poor reputation as a parts seller, how does that person remain a member?

Be sure to report this to Ryan. There are things he can do to ratchet up the heat. Rod

Though not always wanted-paying with Paypal assures you of a refund, so in the future when dealing with someone you are unsure of-consider that option.
Similar to using a credit card....

Besides Ryan, the postal and law enforcement authorities should also be contacted.

Hi All,

Did a quick look-around and found this..

http://www.legacy.com/guestbooks/vis...72335&cid=full

Looks like A Richard Snell from Lakeland FL passed away.. Not sure if the same person, but it's a possibility..

Could be a reason for the slow/no contact?

This Richard Snell above seems to have been from the Reno area. Search Richard Snell Lakeland, FL and you come to several entries including references to "fordrestor6232e."

Not to send someone off climbing the wrong tree - or bothering the bereaved.

I talked with Richard a few times over the past two months and he always had an excuse for not sending the dash rail. I last talked with him last week and he assured me he would call back with the tracking number as it was sent the previous day. Well no call back yet.

Maybe there should a some kind of rating system by Ryan where if nothing appears by the name in the For Sale section then all is well. If a red flag shows up next to the name then there were problems associated with the transaction. Kind of like a BBB rating. It seems that a system like that would be an incentive for good PR.
Once the seller has rectified the problem then the red flag could be removed.

From my dealings with Fordbarn sellers they have all been positive.

He is not know for rapid shipping. May take 6 months to get your part but you will get it.

You might want to call. The polk county sherriff dept. they are most lucky to have a sherriff there by the name of Grady judd . This man does not play you break the law you go to jail he might be the best law enforcement man in the entire country. Every city or county would be lucky to have a law man of his caliber. He justs states its his job to put the bad guys in jail and he does his job well. Its a shame we cant let. Him loose in washington . And I live in tampa and we hear about what he does they almost daily. Hes appears to be the man. Call him explain your problem, I bet you a steak its handeled good luck

I take back what I said then. I did not know there was anyone that he truly stiffed.

Just a heads up on the paypal comment from experience:

I purchased an ATV manual via Paypal that was stated as applying to my particular model and year. It did not, and the seller told me to go pound sand. I contacted paypal, and they confirmed I must go pound sand.
