Default Car hinge mirror

Is there a good way to remove the upper drivers door hinge pin, to install a hinge pin mirror? Everything is painted and all the glass has been installed.

Great. Could you give me the basic dimensions? Square size? Length of square stock?

Do you belong to a Model A club? Our local club has tools we can borrow, has saved me $$$'s not having to buy special tools.

Great idea. I ordered on a few minutes ago, and already have a tracking number. I have a club meeting Friday evening. I will let them know I have this tool, and find out if they have any other tools available. Maybe this will start a trend with my club.

Owning a Model A is really just an excuse to buy more tools

be very careful to not damage the paint using the tool.. i had many not budge when using the tool so what i found that works good as an alternative is to use a small bit and drill through the center of the pin.. the pin is soft and drills easily,, this hollows it out and then allows you to tap it out with a drift.
the reason why the pins get stuck is they form a groove where the door hinge separates.

Hinge pin pusher worked perfect. The mirror is installed.

I am getting ready to install mirrors on my coupe this coming weekend, I am 6'3" tall and am worried they will be unusable for me.
Any experiences with this problem?

I ordered the 5in head from Sacramento Vintage Ford, but they are backordered. Probably waiting to be unloaded. I know it might look different, but I hope it gives a little more view.

I haven't removed any on Model A's but this is exactly how I removed them on my 51 Pickup and it work very well.

I have had good luck using a small socket or nut that just fits over the peened head and a small 1/4" flat steel plate on the other end all held tight with a husky c clamp.
Left it on tight over night and was loose in the morning.

OL JENNY, I waited for over 2 weeks and never got the 5" mirrors from Sacramento Vintage. When I called they said they were still BO. I cancelled and ordered same mirror from Summit Racing http://www.summitracing.com/parts/upd-c477202/overview/ They were drop shipped from United Pacific and got them in 2 days.

They don't look that much different to me but I can see better. The mounting stud is a little shorter tho, I think they were made for a slimmer 'arm'.

Y-Blockhead I have been waiting for over 6 weeks but was not aware of other sources. As long as the heads from Summit fit that is all that matters. Thanks for the information, I will look into getting theirs.

I found that the hinge post mirrors did not give a large enough field of view. To correct this problem, got some parabolic mirrors from Harbor Freight and RTV'ed them to the other mirror face and now can see more area. Like having a mirror like the passenger side on newer vehicles on both sides.
