Keeping fingers crossed. Punta Gorda was hit pretty hard.

My brother lives on the canals in Punta Gorda. Says power was on at 5pm, in time for Sunday night football. Says his community didn't get hit as hard as expected, and no return storm surge in the canals at all. Hopefully, it was the same for everyone in the town/area.

Skip is a little north and further east than Punta Gorda proper SO hopefully he fared the same???

I forgot about Skip until I read this. Hope he was spared any damage. Was at the machine shop that did my flathead this morning. He has a winter home in Punta Gorda and is having difficulty finding out if it's damaged. He did find out his neighbor's house was largely intact. Having almost lost my wife and son in a tornado those folks have my best wishes and prayers.

One possibility is that he got out of town before the storm hit, Craig.

I know a guy who has a place in Fort Myers Beach. His house is gone. He wasn't there, thankfully. I read that the Henry Ford house in Ft. Myers survived relatively unscathed.

HOLY CRAP! That's way worse than I ever could have imagined. Looks like the folks who had beachfront became the big losers in this one! The houses are piled up like jackstraws against the higher ground. Hope we hear from Skip REAL soon! I can't get over that view. Those poor people have a long road ahead.

I texted Skip but haven't had a response as yet. I hope he and George Mitchell didn't suffer too much damage from the storm.

Vic
In my first post "good luck and well wishes" I not only singled out George and Skip BUT I am sure there are "others" too. I thought about trying to call Skip but am unsure IF I should??? I would like to offer to help him and George IF they need it.

That is good news indeed. Ian really did a number on Florida as well as states to the north. Hopefully other Barners came through OK as well.
