Default How much torque on a spindle nut

How much torque do you put on a front bearing spindle nut. I know you tighten it down till all the grease is out than back off to the next notch on the nut. But what if that next notch is to tight.

If the nut turns easy on the threads I just tighten it with my fingers ---first with wrench while rotating, back it off, tighten as tight as you can get it with 2 fingers ---put in cotter pin backing off just enough to put in pin.
