Default Traveling As

Notice how they elevate the back bumpers above the front bumper of the car behind. This fits more cars on the trailer

Were tandem axles a stock AA option?

No. The trailer needs 4 more wheels in the back for it to be an 18 wheeler.

I thought about a set up like this to park my Model T and Model A in the garage, having them slightly offset, but I still don't have a long enough garage.

I think the tractor has singles in the rear. If you look at the drivers side rear of the tractor in the photo, it looks like singles not duals. I could be wrong.

I would suspect a frame extension and a tag axle has been added to the AA.

I'm interested to know how they modified the brakes on the truck or the trailer back then. Stock brakes on an AA wouldn't be up to the task with all that extra weight behind them.

Did the AA's have the same 40hp engine in them? I imagine the gearing would have to be adjusted for hills if towing much weight around with the standard 201ci engine.

Probably the 5.17 or 7.25 worm drive rear axle. These weren't highway haulers. The cars would arrive by rail and then get delivered to the dealer. I doubt any Ford Dealer at that time was further than 50 miles from a railroad depot. Delivering a load of 4 cars 50 miles was probably an all day job. 100 miles at 20-30 mph, load and unload the cars and a couple gas stops.

Brakes ? "we don't have no stinkin' brakes"
Actually looking at the second photo in post #8, I see what looks like a brake rod running through a support bracket to the trailer rear axle. Perhaps just an adapter AA axle.

Another thought about the "stacked arrangement" on the trailer in post #8... I wonder how much oil drained out past the rear crankshaft "seal" onto the car below.

White walls on front and the rest are totally white. Nice look.

As I remember our 1931, 1-1/2 ton had a top speed of twenty miles per hour, but could pull anything. I don't know the ratio of the differential but it had the four speed transition and 40hp engine.
One option offered at the time, would lower, not increase the speed. Fifty years ago, information wasn't available like today.
