Default Fuel filler neck soldered

I have a good question here. Has anyone ever seen the filler neck soldered to the cowl? I am not able to get the fuel tank out of my 29 because it is soldered to the cowl. Has anyone ever seen or heard of such a thing? Thanks!!!

Possible a 'farmer fix' to cure a leak around the gas filler, not factory.

Briggs & Murray built bodies in '29 also had a 7"x7" (approx.) piece of leak & anti-squeak material between the top of the gas tank and the bottom of the covering cowl.
Wonder if this is holding your tank in place ?? Long term water leak could have rusted the pieces in place.

On the subcontract cars like the 28/29 Fordors and the 29 Cabriolet, they use a pad there that was a lot like roofing felt or tar paper. They applied some soft tar there to hold the pad and seal the filler neck where it comes through. It can be a bear to get it to let go sometimes.
