Default The fight'n side of me...

A very sad day as Country music has lost a legend. I'm sure, like me most of you have spent many hours working in the garage listening to Merle over the years.

I had a chance to see Merle live last November and glad I spent the money. He was at his best and it was a great show.

Tom, you may also have seen him at the grocery store! His ranch is just a couple hundred miles north of you!

I saw Merl in Augusta Me. about 40 years ago, I played many of his song when I had a band, and still do. Merl was a hard man to beat if you play county music. Walt

Merle was one of the very best.
A legend in his own time and a mentor to many.
He died on his birthday but his music will survive.

R.I.P. Mr. Haggard. One of the very best. Not like so called todays singers. Didn't need any side gimmicks. Just a man, his guitar & music. Not too many like that left.
Condolences to his family.
I had a chance to purchase his 57 T-bird years back (80s). I always kick myself for not doing that. It was for sale @ a reasonable price too.

"Bakersfield" C&W legend. Never been a great fan of C&W but I like Merle Haggard and Johnny cash. I've got his Ramblin Fever LP from the late 70's. RIP the Hag.

Not many of the old guys left. Waylon Jennings, Willy Nelson, Dr Ralph Stanley, David Allen Cole, Johnny Paycheck, and Kris Kristofson.

Hi Everyone, I agree with y'all. The couple of times I saw Hags he put on a great show. He toured with Dylan a couple of years ago.

A real visionary too;
"Are we rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell,
With no no kind of chance for the flag or the liberty bell"
No words hit home like these to describe the condition of our country right now.

Waylon could have been gone years before. I believe he lost the toss to be a passenger in the plane that Buddy Holly charted and that crashed on take off killing Ritchie Valens , The Big Bopper and Buddy himself - The Day the Music Died !

Naaaah..... it didn't die that day but it must have made Don Mclean a sh*t load of money! Been a lot of good stuff since but I agree with one of the earlier posters here that most of the music today is bollocks.
