Default 1939 Standard, 1940 Deluxe frame differences?

Just wondered if you guys might know of any differences between the a 39 standard and a 40 deluxe frame? I know when ordering headers most companies indicate a different header for each application. The 39 deluxe and the 40's are the same and the 37 - 39 standard show they take the same application. Appreciate any information you fellows might be willing to share.

I think the only difference in a 39 standard to a 40 frame would be front crossmember,as 39 Deluxe and 40 deluxe and standard used the lower fan mount and required lower front crossmember. This would not effect exhaust application, the 37-41 used the same exhaust manifolds so must be reason same exhaust system is called out on similar frame behind front crossmember.

Frames are the same except for the radiator mounts - 39 Standard would be different than the 39 Delux, 40s. For the headers, I think it could be the steering box mounts that are not the same, bringing one box out further/differently than the other. Engine pans may also be different (many do not use them), effecting exhaust routing?

Tom, Just wondering would you think there could be enough difference in the location of the steering box that the steering colum might not align with the mounting location on the bottom of the dash when interchanging the 2?

Look, fellas, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure there is NO difference in the steering gear 39-40 in fact, I'm pretty sure 37-40 are the same. Could be wrong, but that's my gut feeling.
I know for sure the pedals and clutch release mechanism are different 39-40.

Mart.

The front cross member on the 39 standard is in fact different than the 39 deluxe and 40 standard and deluxe.
Another difference is the plate that the "x" member is welded to in the center of the car. 1939 is very different than 40 in that place as well..

39 has light switch plate plate on the end where 40 has light switch on the dash.

Good point, Lawson, the light switch could be the problem area when it comes to exhaust header clearance. I was really thinking about the steering box mounting plate on the frame - that must surely be in the same position 37-40.
