My car came with white walls and I have replaced them twice and like the cream wheels with the black car and dual side mounts.

The Roadster will be shod in whitewalls, my sedan will retain the blackwalls.

In the end it is what the owner likes. I for one could care less what some one else thinks I should like.

Appears some senior men always see some things differently.

For example, per the photo example in above reply #66, some senior men can clearly see that in the 1930's whitewall tires "were" sort of a chick magnet.

Today, in 2015, it would be an interesting experiment if one would ask 50 or so young girls', (ages from 24-66), if whitewall tires "are" still sort of a chick magnet ............ at our ages, one could even try upping the young girls' age to 71 or so.

Being a chick magnet myself, I'm qualified to answer your question. When one gets to a certain age, it doesn't hurt to try everything there is, as long as you can take rejection, lawsuits or run fast enough away from fathers and husbands!!!!!

Mine has white wall tires because my dad had them when he restored the car and when he passed the car on to me he was afraid I would drop a V8 in it and make it a street rod so I have kept it as pure as he would have wanted except I did convert it to 12 Volts. Plus my wife said she likes the look of white wall tires and its less expensive to buy the whitewalls then argue with the boss.

I KNOW,
1) They are more expensive
2) They are harder to keep clean
3) You may be ostracized for having them
4) It's a personal preference

Other things learned

5) Some people continually get irritated that not everyone can find the answer to everything using the search function
6) There is too much talk about Depends.
7) A lot of "Model A" guys have been divorced
8) Owning a Model A might be a reason leading to divorce.
9) Half the guys here want everything original and try to tell the other half that's how they should do it. The other half just want to have their A the way they like it, and don't like being told by the other half how they should keep their A.

Did I miss anything else?

Yup No one is going to win, both sides will stay the same.
Many years ago I built a 29 roadster out of parts. It had fiber glass body and fenders. It had 327 engine model A rear axle and front axle but looked stock except the tires were 16' wires.

Two guys were looking at it giving me a hard time because it had 16' wheels. I guess they though it was a real A. I just Laughed and walked away.

Search function brings you to the Ford Barn.

6) There is too much talk about Depends.

Viagra and Depends are dangerous when used together.

7) A lot of "Model A" guys have been divorced

But who holds the record?

8) Owning a Model A might be a reason leading to divorce.

Driving one can lead to a divorce too.

9) Half the guys here want everything original and try to tell the other half that's how they should do it. The other half just want to have their A the way they like it, and don't like being told by the other half how they should keep their A.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Either way....you're damned!!!

Did I miss anything else?

If so, they will be in Part Two.................

It is good to everyone's health over the winter time to express built up anxieties, especially the aged, plus it helps to pass time. Topics that bring out personal beliefs pertaining to Model As are like an overdose of vitamins. Just be glad this forum in not part of any Rat-Rod forum, this forum does not come equipped with heart defibulators.

Just had to throw in my 2 cents here. I got my 30 coupe from a friend who was going to cut it up and build a hotrod. I just could not let him do it. Since getting it a couple years ago, I put on a set of wide whitewalls and baby moons. I've gotten nothing but compliments on my car. A lot of people even tell me not to paint it because it looks good just like it is. Besides the tires, it's bone stock in every way and we drive the daylights out of it. I guess to each his own.

A year ago I saw a nice 32 roadster on a trailer for sale.

I was so in awe of it , I was snapping pics of the very nice roof and roof bows, when 3 old codgers started ahhing and oohing all over it too, UNTIL they looked under the front and saw disc brakes, and then one of them felt the fenders for fibreglass and said, it's a F***ing HOT ROD and walked off.

It turned out to be a real beautiful replica (but fibreglass body ) complete with 32 flathead and only thing not original (but for body ) it had discs on front and hydaulics .

Perfect paint and trim (upholstery to yanks ), 18 inch wheels, rumble seat , whitewalls , the lot .

Sometimes ya wonder ......

I would have owned it in a heartbeat if I could have afforded it.

Gotta put my 2 cents in on this. I agree it is personal preference. I think white walls look better on coupes and roadsters than on some other body styles. I would not mind white walls on any body style other than a pickup. I also think black walls look good but look better on some body styles than others. It's kind of like on modern cars, I can't stand the big whale tales on "rice rockets" but some people obviously like them. The Model A might have come from the factory with black walls, but some people like to accessorize their cars whether Model A or modern. If a particular accessory makes the owner happy, then it is ok. I just have the right to not have it their way, or to have it my way.
