I'm not a fordor fan but in a 32 or a 40, I can tolerate them. Color also makes you attracted to models that you wouldn't normally look at twice. Yours is really a good looking car and I hope you enjoy it a lot as I enjoy my 40.

I just put signals in my '40 coupe and seat belts. I sued the seat belts from a company called Seat Belts Plus( they are easily found on the web). Wide variety of colors and they have the installation kits too. I thought they had a great price on the belts.
I used the turn switch from e-Bay that costs about $30. It's a take off from the old Signal Stat 900. It also has the capability of E-flashers. It should come with a diagram. I used the parking lights. I bought a larger bulb for them and it worked fine. The wires for the rear go into the brake lamp circuit. Just make sure everything is grounded well. Most of these switches come with a 12 volt indicator bulb, so you will have to change that bulb if you are still 6 volts. Do that before mounting the switch.

I second Juliano's for seatbelts. I installed shoulder belts in my 39 Fordor using their B pillar mounting hardware.

Sharp car, thank you for sharing a photo. Been to Australia 2 times in since 1988, very much enjoyed the country and people. Luck to have spent a fair amount of time there each visit.

Mark that is such a beautiful car. Perhaps the tudor is more desirable to some, but one day you just may have grandkids like me and they want to go to the lake and you won't have to bend over in the middle (ouch) and let them into the back seat. Never been much of a hot rodder , not even close, so give me four doors or a wagon, even better. Did I mention how much I love that green?

GB, You're a hot rodder just not in the go fast sense. You make do with what you have and improve your vehicles to do what you need them to do regardless. To me that is what hot rodding is all about. JMHO.

Thanks, I have strayed from the fold, but dangit we topped the Olga hill today at 56 mph in fourth. That's with the diesel tonner.... Now with a rare 5 days of beautiful cloudless skies in the forecast, we will be running the woodie with that smooooooth, quiet v8 . Nothing smoother ever.

Here is a shot of the engine. Interesting that the car seems to have a commercial air filter setup installed.

Great find! And nice that it is a Deluxe. I really like all the Art-Deco trim on the dash of the '40 Deluxe. Its like what you would see on a high-price car of that time. My Standard dash looks plain, like the low-price car it was.

Ok so I have 2 questions for all of you.

1 How do I get the throttle knob to stay out when pulled out? Both of my 41's and this 40 it just pops right back in. Is there some kind of trick to adjusting this?

I would like to replace the existing small mirror heads on the driver's and passengers doors with something a bit larger for safety reasons. Those little guys are just that, little.

Thanks.

The throttle rod goes through a rubber piece on back side of dashboard to provide some resistance to the throttle return spring. The rubber hardens over time, shrinks, no resistance. Replacements available from all the usual vendors for just a few dollars.

No advice to offer on the mirrors.

The hinge pin mirrors on my '39 were round 4 inchers which were just too small IMO. I bought 5 inch round flat glass mirrors at the local (real) parts store. IIRC I had to modify the mirror arm to accept the threaded stud from the new 5 inch mirror. I think I used a nutsert. I can check tomorrow. The photo doesn't really show much detail. I'll take a close up tomorrow. The 5 inch mirrors were a big improvement but you might even want to consider 6 inch ones.

Thanks.
That's hilarious to me. When I was a little kid I remember the same problem my Dad had. His solution was to take one of those old fashioned spring loaded wooden clothespins and pull out the knob and clip it behind. It worked. Thanks for reminding me of a long ago memory. How I miss my Dad.
