Default Hemmings Motor News

Just received my April 2014 issue of HMN. Cover and feature cars are a 30 Roadster and 29 Tudor. Interesting write up, according to the article Ford had planned on replacing the T the summer 1926 and had "pinned his hopes that the successor to the T would be powered by an unusual eight-cylinder X-configuration engine, with four banks of twin cylinders arranged opposite each other in the shape of an X---one set at two o'clock, another at four, another at eight and the final set at 10 o'clock."

Would have been interesting......

I'd sure like to know what it sounded like. Does anyone have a blow-up of the engine showing its crank, rods, cam, followers, induction and exhaust systems, etc?

That is what I was thinking. Ford was involved in airplane manufacturing during the war.

Good thing this idea never came into being. I have enough trouble keeping my car running, I could imagine being confronted with this thing.

It's not a Ford but still an interesting rotary engine powered car from 1906!

Neat to read an article about the Model A Fords. Good points made by the editor about the collectibility of a Model A. Hemmings does a pretty good job with their articles about different car stuff. The for sale ads are kinda weak these days compared to pre-Internet but things change.

They said B-J set new records, and what caught my eye was the attendance,,,, 300,000!!! Wow.

I don't think we have to worry about the old car hobby dying off, in any of OUR lifetimes regardless of the gloom and doom you here
