I can assume that the gauge panel I have with an oval speedo can be used on my 30/31 build ? Seems to work fine. I need a gas gauge. Are all the same ? What is the round hole I have in the center for? Dash light ? Thanks

The gauge panel with the oval speedometer was only used up thru mid '30. Late '30 thru '31 end of production used the round speedometer.

To answer Harley's final question, Yes, the round hole in the center is for the dash light.

All gas gauges are not the same. The later 1931 has a tang on the housing that keeps the gauge centered when you tighten the nut. There is also a small cut out in the tank itself that the tang fits into.

Just to throw in the pot.....

I switched the instrument panel on my late '31 roadster. From the original rusty steel one to one of the uncommon "brass" ones. The original brushed nickle finish (I can't think of the proper name) was in nice shape on the brass one. However, the dish of the brass panel is not as deep as the steel one and can cause problems when using non-original

ignition switches.
