My rubber gasket had a paper-like material under it. Do I need something there? Bad photo attached.

Was this a new seal or the old original seal? I don't recall any paper on the rubber seal of mine.

Bill, It had been in the pickup a long time, but wasn't quite as hard as the other seals - maybe just a replacement someone didn't unwrap to install....

Could have been tape I guess - but wrapped around the outward part of the channel. Weird.
