Professor David Lewis was a very active writer who loved old Fords and their creators.
Living in Michigan, he got to know and was able to interview many Ford Employees including Henry Ford II.
Among the many books he authored on Fords and the Company, he wrote this book, "The Public Image of Henry Ford - An American Folk Hero and His Company".
I am privileged to have a personally autographed copy in my Library of Ford Books.

I wish I had known him personally. I wish I had been privileged to have been one of his students. He knew and wrote more about Henry Ford than Old Henry knew about himself. Professor Lewis was a premier Ford historian. His writings tended toward the dry "just the facts, Ma'am", rather than the conversational style of most other writers, but in my view, that meant you could count on every word to be solid fact.
Rest In Peace Professor David Lewis.

In my Post 1, I got it wrong. Because of the way Americans write their dates, I got confused.
David actually lived a week after his 96th Birthday.

A very interesting man. And a member of the Henry Ford Heritage Association.
I got to meet him during one of their events.
Alan is correct, a very interesting read when you open one of his books.
He also colaborated on many of the Consumers Guide Books about Ford Automobiles. One with two other knowledgable men - Mike McCarville and Lorin Sorensen.

Very nice man. I had breakfast with him one morning in Loyang, China, in the early 1970's. He was there to give a talk to students at a local university. I was there installing American made gear manufacturing machinery in a Chinese automotive plant. After just a few minutes, he made you feel as though you had known him for years. Wish I had been able to spend more time with him, but value the short time I had. R.I.P., David
