Default 34 pickup cab assembly question

What material was used between the cab body and the roof? It appeared to be a fabric with some sort of sticky material on it, but I could not identify just what it was. Also, is there a good source for the lower rear cab panel? I really want from belt-line down as mine is rusted from stuff being left between the bed and the cab. Helps that it was, previously, left uncovered for years.

Likely a form of old-fashioned friction tape to seal the joints between the roof panel and the rest of the cab. You can still obtain it at sporting goods stores that carry hockey equipment.

Hi; Friction tape it is......Cab backs are a problem, the United Pacific cab back is nice and expensive. Some outfits stock them.. All Ford Parts Campbell, Ca is a dealer for United Pacific. PU's are no longer cheapies to build. Newc

Here's a couple more ,(just pick ups ) I have more on the fabrication but cannot find them at the moment, you can do the A pillar patch on a folder, maybe B to , there likely a simple way of making a folder using angle iron /stock ,

Thank you, all, for your quick reply. Friction tape is not a problem. Guess I'll figure out the cab back.

I can tell you where NOT to buy a cab back metal replacement.

I bought one from "Wolf" products somewhere in the Northeast, I forgot where. None of the ribs were close to correct. They were the wrong distance apart, some too close, some to wide and the depth of the ribs was wrong. I have heard that United Pacific stuff was good.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the cab back panel reproduced by United Pacific is the '32-'33 version, not the '34 version.

United Pacific does NOT make the 1934 cab truck back panel only the 32, 33...........

My 34 has left-over seat material as a factory gasket between the roof and sides....
Henrys Idea of recycling in the 30s......Derek

I had the roof off of my cab last summer, same question. Friction tape was my first thought but didn't want the sticky. I ended up using fender welt, minus the bead.
