Default Flathead burn oil

Just curious both my cars are very old builds (over 30 years). Neither burn any oil. Are flatheads less prone to burn oil?

Leaks I have first hand knowledge

No more prone than any other. Count yourself as one of the lucky ones.

Truth is all engines burn oil. It is just a matter of if it is very little or a whole bunch. If yours is a "burns very little" then that is great..... unless you also have no oil pressure and then that is bad....

Same here! My '36 leaks far more than it burns, though I've been able to dramatically reduce the dripping by adding a quart of Lucas heavy-duty oil stabilizer in lieu of a quart of oil at every change.

Usually, I put ZERO faith in products like this but it's actually done a lot to stop my 59L engine from leaking out the rear rope seal.

Is that where it's leaking? Thought it was coming out the manhole-sized
plate on the bottom of the pan.......... that thing was a PITA to get sealed
up.
