Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup
I found a nice used top bow for a model A roadster pickup, but I do not know what the difference if any is between a 1929 and 1930 roadster pickup top bow/irons.

The width is different where they fasten to the windshield stains ions. 1928-1929 is a couple inches narrower then 1930-1931.

Re: Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup
I measured the width at the back and it is 51 inches on the top irons. The width of the tub where the top irons attach is 51 inches so I am thinking it should be for a 28-29 roadster pickup.
Looking at photos of 1929 and 1930 the support bracket that attaches behind the door appears to be further back on 1930 than 1929 so I thought there might be a difference in length there too. Is there a difference in the length of the support bracket that goes from the body to the top bows from 1929 to 1930? Last edited by rkmiller; 03-16-2020 at 07:45 AM. |

Re: Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup
Is there a difference in height or length of the bow support rod that goes from the body to the top bows on 1929-1930?
Thanks for the help! I just want to make sure before I buy the set. My vehicle is completely apart so it is not easy to just set the top bows on it and see if it fits. |

If they are the '28/'29 type and you don't need them, I do. :-)

If anyone has a 29-29 and can measure the front width at the windshield and the length of the supports that go down to the body that would help a lot. These top bows are expensive and we ( the seller and I) are not sure if they are 28-29 or 30-31. |

Re: Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup
Can anyone with a 38-29 or 30-31 roadster pickup measure their top bows width where they mount to the windshield and the overall width at that part of the top irons?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Just a guess, I don't have a Roadster P/U, I have a roadster. Are the '28/'29 irons oval tubed like the car and '30/'31 irons flat stock?

My 28 rpu is about 44 1/8 in center to center at the top of the w/sh posts where the top clamps set. the bracket on the 1/4 panel is 1 1/2 in tall over all above the 1/4 panel with the stud center at 1 in above the 1/4 panel.
