Default 1937 humpback sedan smoothie hood latch

Hi All: I am a new owner of a 1937 Ford humpback sedan and have a smoothie hood for it since the old hood was beyond repair in terms of cost effectiveness.
My question: Has anyone on this site managed to utilize a hood catch that can be operated from the inside of the car with a pull handle? Otherwise, I will have to drill a hole in this new smoothie hood and go back original...
Thanks,
Mike K.

Some of the streetrod parts vendors sell a universal hood latch set up that looks very close to an early Volkswagen set up. Check with Southern Rods and Parts in South
Carolina.

I used the old style Volkswagen catch. I used a Lokar handle and cable mounted under the dash to operate it.

Thanks all. Can you tell me about the necessary fabrication? Looks like you use some plate steel and welded the necessary parts???

Yes, it did involve fabbing the 2 panels, one welded into the hood, the other attaches to the grille and extends back to the rad. I still use the original hood pin mounted in the grille, but not shown in this picture. It's quite a bit of work, but works well.
