1929 Tudor Top Wood
My top has come loose at the rear due to some wood rot. I removed the rear most piece of wood and noticed that is made of three separate pieces. Is that normal? Pictures that I see online appear to show two pieces and vendors only list one item #. Educate me, please, before I buy the wrong parts.

Well let me start by saying that if you buy premade wood from any Vendor, then it will be wrong. Generally speaking, the reason you would see it in multiple pieces is to save costs both in materials cost, and in shipping costs. Now, to answer your question, the rear-most piece of wood that the top fabric connects to is the A-57247 which is called the Roof Rib #8. This Roof Rib attaches to the A-57230 or 57231 which is the Roof Rail Side - RH (-or LH respectively). All three of these items were each made from one piece of stock. You lose tremendous structural strength when multiple pieces are bolted/screwed together. |

Re: 1929 Tudor Top Wood
So Rib #8 was originally one piece but was able to sandwich the body sheet metal that rolls downward?
And since Ford no longer produces wood, are there any vendors other than Fordwood that sell the individual pieces? They have a minimum 90 days on shipping. |
