Aluminum head anti seize
What is the recommended anti seize for the head stud shoulders within the head to prevent the corrosion between the steel stud and the aluminum head, I understand that aviation grade anti seize is the best for this application. What is the base of the anti seize, copper, nickel, graphite ?
Thank you Fordbarn. |

Re: Aluminum head anti seize
Thank you fordbarners. I found that there are 2 types of aviation type anti-seize. 1 is for steel spark plug threads into an aluminum head, and the other is a zinc & petrolatum anti-seize that is general purpose, and what I was looking for. Will post my findings for future reference.

http://www.stefs.com/bandb/products/...washerstep.htm To me it is intuitive, if you keep the bolts or studs centered in their holes, then there should be little corrosion or electrolysis that impairs head removal. I also used anti-seize on the shanks as added insurance. Be aware, you have to buy a special bit to drill the heads to accept the washers. |
