Default Out of round tire

Looking for someone in Southern Ontario that can shave a tire, or even Niagara Falls and Buffalo area. Thanks.

Come out to California. There's a process here that anyone can do. It's called a "Sideshow".

A local gas station years ago had a tire truer that had various shaped knives to trim different shaped treads. Try finding an old mom and pop tire shop or gas station.

I had 5 nearly new tires shaved by John Warden in Green Mountain, Iowa a few years ago. It cost me less than 100 dollars for all 5. Money well spent for me. I would have spent 7 or 8 hundred to replace them. They ran smooth as silk when the job was done. A good man with a good machine doing an excellent job.

Truck tires are not trued/shaved, they are "re-grooved" to improve the tread depth. A truck tire usually has "re-grovable" cast into the side wall of the tire along with the other DOT Spec's. Not the same thing as truing a tire.

We find out-of-round problems with some new tires. In that case, we return them for replacement. If they are out of round enough to affect use, the only safe remedy is to put on a new tire. Be sure that your rim is not bent, We used to find that on the wire wheels on early vehicles.

Many years ago I had new tires put on an Olds I had. The car drove terrible, where-as it had always drive great. The tire dealer was not very helpful so I went to another store, the wheels and tires were removed from the car and put on a balancing machine, the tires were egg shaped. By the time the "truing" process was completed the tires were almost smooth on one side, with near full tread 180 degrees away.
Needless to say the tires were junk, never bought another set of Sears Allstate tires.
