Default 48 mercury bumpers vs. 48 Ford bumpers

Can anyone tell me if '48 Ford car bumpers will bolt on to a '48 Mercury.

If this is a 118 inch wheelbase Merc, the ford front probably won't work as the front merc bumper is boomerang shaped. The ford rear would work, but you will need the bumper irons as well. 42-47 early rear irons are different from late 47-48 irons.Early irons go on the bodies with the long rolled rear pan. Later ones use the short pan under the deck lid.

Thank you for your time and answer. The bumpers are solid and 95% straight. I'm probaby better off having them rechromed. It may end up costing a little more but I do like the idea of keeping it original. I'm going to Hershey may I'll cart the bumpers along and see if I can get a good job done for under a grand.

Merc front bumper has a much more forward arc in the middle than the Ford, I had one on a 46 Ford (in high school) but I was never happy with how it looked. Paul Selfe.

I took this pic at a car show one night and have always wondered what the deal was with the car on the left's front bumper. It is not just the way the picture was taken. The bumper is truly curved like that.
Is that the boomerang your talking about?
