Forget how much mine was but it wasn't bad. Mine bolted to the bumper bracket holes on the chassis.

That's where I got mine for the 54 (after the Quickor fiasco) and my 56 Bird. No fitment problems.

NASCARdave big thanks for the info, it supports my comment the mounts were not installed correctly. I wonder if the car left the assembly line with a Ford or Mercury sway bar.
Bobss396, beautiful work!
I'm somewhat limited on what I can do in my driveway/ tools. I'm unable to remove the flattened collar nuts welded onto the inside of my non-boxed area of the frame or able to drill through one for the new mount location. Car is at a Hot Rod shop now for the install
Later this year I'll be working out of the ARC Shop in Sun City West, they have everything I'll ever need!

Jwa, did you know that all the '55 & '56 Wagon models had a 1 inch diameter front anti-sway bar, while the car models had a 3/4 inch bar, but lengths and bends are identical for both. True, Mercury did have shorter lengths after the bend (which increased the amount of stiffness and reduced body roll).
Okay, so on my '55 Ford Courier wagon, the first bolt-hole for the sway bar bushing bracket under the frame is exactly 7-3/8 inches back from the front of the frame. (That is the original bolt-hole for the original anti-sway bar). I looked at my '55 Ford Fairlane car also and the sway bar bushing bracket is in the exact same place.
