Howdy cool coupe, This 1942 Lincoln Zephyr overdrive transmission I believe will bolt right up to any 1932 thru 1948 Ford flathead. (maybe later ones too with an adapter). The front of the case looks just the same as any 32-48 Ford transmission. If you want a top loader instead of a side shifter, you can also swap out the Lincoln side shifter trani case for a 32-39 top loader case and just bolt the Lincoln overdrive part right on the back of the case. (of course installing the Lincoln gearset in the top loader box). That is a pretty trick deal. The third option is to pull out the rare Lincoln Zephyr gear set and drop them into a 32-48 Ford gear box. If you need further info, feel free to email me on my other email address which is [email protected] I check that every day but don't check in on Ford barn nearly as often. By the way, I'm planning to do the top loader conversion on one of my cars in the future. The trani cases on the 1939-1942 Lincolns look to be basically the same as far as dropping this trani right into a Lincoln. Thank you, Sir Duce

I believe that you will find that the OD portion of the '42-'48 Lincoln trans will NOT bolt to a top loader case without a fair amount of machine work to the top load case.
Yes the 3 speed gear set will fit the top load case.
