47 Pickup Voltage Regulator Question
Good afternoon,
Does a firewall mounted voltage regulator need to be insulated from the firewall? I'm working on a 47 pickup that had an aftermarket voltage regulator installed and it was mounted directly to the firewall, no rubber insulators like my other 47s. What problems would this create if any? Thanks. |

Re: 47 Pickup Voltage Regulator Question
No, I don't think so. But you say your "other 47s" were insulated. The voltage regulator is a self-contained switch that I've always thought of as internally insulated current director. So, there should be no need to insulate it from the rest of the car through the firewall.
Maybe better minds can teach both of us!! |

Re: 47 Pickup Voltage Regulator Question
Rubber mounts on regulators are a sound deadening device, as regulators will buzz at times. For these, there will be a grounding method for the regulator body to the firewall.
