Default gearbox shifter question

dose anyone know of a shifter that converts side shifter [40s on] to top shift 39 and before as side shift boxs are easier to find but wont fit the early bodies

I dont see why any of the old aftermarket floor shifter wouldnt work. the shift lever will not come thru the floor in the same place though. Why not put the side shift guts in a top loader case? Good time to go thru it all and make it rite

Easier to swap cases. There was a post by “ Chuck Stevens” a while ago, he had pics of a conversion shifter that I think he made…… Mark

I've never done it, but using the original column shift mechanism and adapting it as a remote shifter was a thing back in the day. Probably more applicable to a sports car type scenario where you want the shifter further back.

The most available conversion is Hurst, but Mister Gasket and a few others I don’t remember are available. A long time ago I put a floor shift conversion on my wife’s ‘67 Plymouth that had very worn column linkage, it was a Mister Gasket brand.
