I made seven 6 volt alternators for my own use. I used the 2 brush shells and 40 type front bearing and bracket mount. You need to get a reverse polarity bridge rectifier and a 6 volt regulator. I used an adjustable regulator so I could adjust the max output. Mine charge 7.2 above 500 RPMs and 6.8 at a slow idle with a small stock Ford pulley. The GM alternators need 24 volt field windings so they charge at idle with a stock Ford pulley. G.M.
