1932 - 1934 roadster pickup door hinges
Can anyone tell me what door hinges were used on an original roadster pickup? I have to believe that they were probably used on other years or models

Re: 1932 - 1934 roadster pickup door hinges
The four part numbers, B-76600, 76601, 76602, and 76603, for the roadster pickup hinges do not show up in the '32-'34 body parts catalogs as being used on any other body type. Further, the catalog listings for them strongly suggest that they were not carried over from Model A applications. Sorry.
While a long shot, perhaps you'll find someone with a set of originals or Bill Honda (RIP) reproductions that will provide you with accurate dimensions so that you can alter a set of non-roadster pickup hinges to provide you with what you need. |

Try checking with Bobby Walden at Walden Speed Shop. He's done a couple deuce roadster pickups and is now building one from scratch. He might have a suggestion about the hinges. 909-623-3747

Re: 1932 - 1934 roadster pickup door hinges
It's been years since I looked at the ones I have, but if IIRC two are originals and two are from a car or closed cab that have been modified to work on an open cab.
It'd certainly be possible to modify non-open cab hinges to work if you aren't concerned with 100% accuracy.

Do to the extreme rarity of the 1932-1934 roadster pickup, unless you are going for judging points, who cares whether the hinges are original or not. The important thing is that you took the time and effort to restore a rare Ford vehicle.

Re: 1932 - 1934 roadster pickup door hinges
You're best bet is to start with '32 phaeton/roadster hinges which are available as reproductions. They share the same hinge pin as the roadster pickup hinge. Cabriolet hinges may look similar (they all look similar installed with the door closed), but they are about 3/16" taller top to bottom than roadster pick up hinges. That's not surprising given how much heavier a cabriolet door is than that of a roadster pickup or roadster or phaeton.

Mike, can you post pictures of your hinges preferably with a tape measure for hinge pin center to the end of the hinge and also the height? Thank you, Dave |

Unfortunately, they're buried away at the back of a storage building at my parents. Haven't seen the light of day in probably close to 10 years.

Thanks Mike. I can relate to that all too well. I am hoping with dimensions that some 32 Australian phaeton hinges I have or some of Karl's castings will work. The Australian hinges attached to a wood door frame like the RPU and are not as heavy as the US version |
