Re: Collector Car Insurance
Several have mentioned J.C. Taylor as a good possibility. I would run as fast as possible from them. I found out the hard way that uninsured/underinsured motorists' coverages applied only to personal injury - not property damages. I now have Hagerty and have been very pleased with their coverages and response times. A lady rear-ended me two years ago, and their agent was on top of things from the "get-go".

...Daniel, don't worry, here in Hagerty we want you to enjoy driving your car. The policy for 700 miles up to 3500 is the same. Go out and enjoy the antique, we have you cover. We even do not have odometers records in our computer. Do not worry, enjoy the car.... NICE !!! I will be driving the car more comfortable now within the rules I posted previously "occasional, pleasure and hobby driving". Best Daniel |

Re: Collector Car Insurance
CONGRATS ON YOUR OUTCOME
jc also doesnt look at your odometer, though some do and some actually want you to record every single time you drive your car. I considered switching to Hagerty, but when they told me I needed to keep a log on each car, said heck with that. |

Re: Collector Car Insurance
Has anyone had any experience with American Collectors, Cherry Hill, NJ with regards to claim service? Also, I am curious what level of coverage others have for Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability, Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist? Thank you, Ed

Re: Collector Car Insurance
I suggest you NOT disclose your coverage amounts for BI & PDL. I suggest you carry a lot, usually doesn't cost MUCH more.

Re: Collector Car Insurance
I am NOT an insurance agent. Just my opinion. I have no skin in the game. Consider that IF you have a serious accident and someone is hurt badly (or you cause an accident that destroys four new pickup trucks (happened this week near me - worth more than some folks homes) what will your coverage pay? The insurance company will be happy to pay their share if you have low coverage and guess who will be stuck with the rest.
Your assets could be at risk.Search on-line "explanation of auto insurance". If the insurance company has more risk in the game, they will help you, otherwise they write a check. Ted |

Re: Collector Car Insurance
Ted,
my homeowners kicks in should I go over my liability limit. I carry basic, but my homeowners is for half a million. Ed, Collectors was once part of Condon and Skelley- they are up the road from one another. The three way partnership split up. Cant tell you as to how good they are, but Condon and Skelly was a bit pricier then most and always required photos, so I always stuck with JC, for ease of service. My father had 2 claims years ago with JC and was paid promptly and fairly. |

Good, but some folks don't understand what CAN happen, and it doesn't make their day.

Re: Collector Car Insurance
Two claims in a short period of time puts up a big red flag with the insurance company. You may have screwed yourself.
This puts you on their watch list as a liability. And they all share info about us between themselves. It affects your homeowners and insurance on your everyday cars. Unless you have a major accident it is always best to just pay out of pocket and leave them out of the equation. Don't be too quick to file a claim. They have actuary tables and computer algorithims that determine how big of a risk you are and it is reflected in your premium. |
