So just to be controversial, I plan to un-chop this UK all its life '32 Victoria body! Picture from before I bought it.

My Dad always said of "guys" who "CHOP" cars...... that the person who has it done should get the same amount of inches taken of their head!!!!! SO Keith, I'm not sure what that means for you, since you're adding back!!!!

A '32 Victoria? In this case, I believe an "un-chop" is mandatory.

Were you able to acquire some discarded parts from someone else's chop job? I would think that they would be a big help.

I have never liked a chopped top on any car nor do I like flames. Call me weird but I also prefer 4 door sedans as opposed to 2 doors and especially convertibles. In the case of this '32 I hope the new owner either keeps it as is or "restores" it as close to original as possible given their resources. That is what my avatar '32 got in the early '70's.

Thanks Petehoovie. I have a few early pics when my Uncle first got the car. They are rough but I will post one soon. I was 14 years old (63 now) when he brought it home and I remember it to this day. The '32 up for auction in the OP is in better shape than my avatar when my uncle bought it. He paid $500 for it in 1972 with the promise he would keep it "original" to the old man he bought it from. The old man was adamant he wouldn't sell it to a Hotrodder. My Uncle kept his word. No chopped top or Hotrodding. It is not "original" however both my Uncle and my Dad did as little as possible to alter it and get it running and driving.

I managed to acquire some pieces from a 5 window coupe that was chopped albeit sadly not as heavily as the Victoria is. Of great help, I also have the rough remains of another UK all its life RHD car. A sensible person would use the roof off of that and make one good one out of the two - not being sensible I am determined to save that one too!!! This will be my second 'un-chopped' '32 as my cabriolet has been returned to stock height now too!

My five window I am working on is not chopped and probably will never be as long as I own it. It is just to nice a five window. I have owned and chopped a few. If it is your car do with as you will. Nothing lasts forever. Have Fun.

Old Fords look great just the way they came from the factory. They also look great with factory paint colors and outside trim. Sometimes they just need to be lowered a little and have dual exhaust. If they are original and never been touched from day one, leave them alone as they are only original once and are a study in history..

I'm curious why the seller hasn't listed it on this forum in the Swap meet. Also curious why one would buy this car then proceed to "Restomod" or "hotrod" it. Seems like if one wants a toy there are plenty of completely built and ready to roll glass or steel bodied reproductions advertised in Hemmings for more or less the same price. It makes no sense to me why one would pay that much and turn right around and put thousands and thousands more into it.

Somebody had better want it really bad to throw $40K at it . . . and then tens of thousands more to get it "restored" or "hotrodded" - the money will be spent in some direction and now they'll have $60K or more in it. Now if is was a 3-window, maybe . . .

I've owned and driven a 'sheet-load' of 283s, 327s, and even a half dozen or so 350 pieces of 'sheet', and I've just never quite managed to "obsolete" one of 'em yet during the past 56 years that I've been driving these things, and every last one of them without any kind of mercy shown! They all just seem to keep "giving-back"! DD

I currently have one of those with 272,000 on it. NEVER been inside that engine, not once. Quite as the day it was new.
As much as I enjoy these flatheads, um, nowhere near 272,000 is ever going to happen without a number of rebuilds in between.

For sheets and giggles one of those has been in our 3 window since the early 60's. It's what we inherited.
