Default Thread chasing die set

Very useful tool ,cheap and free shipping.
I get asked as to what I use to clean up threads on the 32-35 gas gauges and senders.

I highly advise getting their full kit with both male & female chasing dies in both course and fine. I use it almost weekly. Invaluable tool.

Here is the whole kit from LANG - best price I found was on Amazon (and free shipping with Prime):

B&S, That's the same set I have which was sold by Craftsman. Good set!

I have the two Lang sets. One is a "deluxe" that has one additional size to both SAE fine, course and metric. I'm sure you could find it on Ebay. Mine was branded Craftsman, but it is made by Lang. They also make the kit for Snap-On.

As mentioned, these kits are a must for any old Ford enthusiast.

I was fortunate enough to pick up the Craftsman set when our local Sears was closing up, I don’t remember what I paid but it was cheap.

What is wrong with just using regular tap and dies?

Regular taps and dies are made for "cutting" & "Removing" materials and are not the "best" to use for "cleaning" threads!!! The kit discussed here is for "cleaning" the threads and "repairing" existing threads NOT re-cutting threads like taps and dies do. It makes a difference

Plus in cleaning up the threads these chasers will fit in a tight space whereas the die will not.See the '35 gas gauge pictured as an example
