Default Recomendations for Glass Source

So an edge chip turned into a significant crack on the passenger front door on my 39 Merc. Interested in any recommendations for a good source of flat glass. I see an ad in V8 Times for Sanderson Reproduction Glass, anyone use them or any other suggestions? Yes, there is a local independent business that I guess I could take the original window to, but I still wanted to bring it up here. Thanks guys.

I used Sanderson last year for 3 windows. They were very professional and provided prompt, good service at a reasonable price.

Your local guy might even have patterns for your Merc instead of having to use your old glass for a pattern. My local guy had patterns for the windshield and door glass for my '39 p/u. Either way, I'd start there. If we stop using our local sources they'll eventually all be gone. JMO

If you have the glass then a local glass service can copy it and even set it in the channel ready to install. (any issues, they can correct it)
Just do a local search in the Yellow pages.

Thanks guys, all good comments, and yes I always lean toward doing biz locally if possible.

On a related note, the garnish molding around the door window shows no visible screws. Can I assume (hate to) that the molding snaps in/out?

The screws come in from the outside top and front of the door.

Hey Denny,
When I read your message I thought, that makes sense! However closer examination revealed no screws going in from outside top or front. I've posted in the Merc forum over on the Early V8 site, but I"m thinking those moldings must snap in/out. However I will find out for sure before prying on them.

Ooops, when I saw your avatar and your handle, i just assumed we were talking shoebox Fords; sorry. Although I am no expert on pre-war Ford products, I doubt that any have window garnish moldings that just snap in. I could be wrong again, though.
