Default Which application for BW Pcv382?

This is a question on behalf of anyone considering switching to pcv on an 8ba. The recommended valve is BW pcv382, however it's no longer available. A search on BWs site as well as trying to cross reference the number provided no info. My question is, what is the original application the valve came on? I'm sure someone still makes the correct valve so looking it up by application would make the process easier. Thanks in advance

You freaking rock!!! Out of all the threads here and on the hamb I read not one person mentioned what the valve was from. I do have one more question... Is this valve the best one for a Flathead or is there a valve that's better suited for it?

Why would anyone recommend using a valve that is used on an engine with half the displacement of a flathead ?

That's exactly why I asked if there was a better valve. I was surprised that it was from a 4 cylinder myself. So what valve would be more suitable?

Because it often works. I have one for a 3L 183CI, PCV333 displacement on my 268CI 59A and it works great. No oil fog on the firewall and a smaller effect on the carburetor settings, i.e. it sucks less ;-)

I have always used SBC ones for a 283 with no ill effects, and works fine. It is just a 1 way check valve for a similar displacement. It also is nice and small.

A lot of people use one from a Jeep 4.0. I don’t have a part number. It sure sounds like Glenn is talking from experience, PCV valves aren’t expensive. Maybe try both……. Mark

Jeep 4.0L arent actual pcv valves. They have what look like two in the valve cover but The front one is fully opened and the rear one has a small hole on the bottom but has no valve inside so technically it's opened as well

Now that we have the valve itself selected, does anyone have a part number or application for the grommet that goes into the road draft port?

(I'm late to the party because, few years ago, I had my road draft tube and clamps chrome plated. Unfortunately, they came out beautifully.)

Speaking of a 4.0L, I wonder how a 4.0L explorer valve would do?

Have you run any or seen any tests to see how it works? The displacements just about right so it should work perfectly I would think.

Nothing more than to confirm the presence of vacuum.
Been running perfectly for 10 years plus.

I remember reading a few of your posts on it now. What vehicle did you tell them at the parts place or do you have a number for the valve and the grommet you're using?

Now that I think about it, maybe it was the grommet from the Jeep with a different PCV….. did you check different year Jeep’s?……. Mark

CJStefan .....If you are looking for a HUGE selection of PCV-related SOFT parts, look no farther than Dorman's list, shown in this link BELOW.

https://www.dormanproducts.com/c-544-pcv-grommets.aspx

This list became our "go-to" source when building a PVC Valve system for Heard's brand-new, modified 8BA engine for his '35 pick-up truck. This DORMAN list was priceless when it came to choosing a fitting to hold the PCV Valve we were using, as well as to fit a piece of copper tubing, as needed for our system. The DORMAN catalog also gives full SIZING information with each piece. The piece below shows what we needed, as well as the GM PCV Valve used.

We had decided to build a system that would hide the ugly PCV Valve as well as MOST of the plumbing, yet allow servicing or replacement of the PCV Valve WITHOUT REMOVING the intake manifold to do it. Click the LINK BELOW for a detailed thread on the entire project, with many pictures, diagrams and PARTS LIST! DD

I'll have to check the valve for a 4.2. I'm actually in the process of a 4.0L swap in my '89 YJ that that has/had a 4.2. I also did the same swap in an '84 and '86 CJ7 that had the 4.2 but I never gave the PCV valve a second thought.
