Default 29 closed cab on 30-31 chassis

Will a 29 pickup closed cab bolt right up on a 30-31 chassis? Thanks Fordbarn.

yes it will, but, the radiator will sit at the wrong height and willl have to be shimmed up to make the radiator and hood fit right. I am working that very senerio right now with my chassi, cowl and hood for my new speedster. ken

The Service Bulletins discuss the shims needed to mount the 28-29 radiator on the 30-31 chassis. Just follow their instructions.

Page 387 of Service Bulletins "New Front Cross Member" talks about the need to shim the radiator if you have the 30-31 Cross member and the 28-29 radiator. It gives part numbers for the shims and longer mounting bolts but no dimensions. I just did this on my 29 CCPU. I had 2 shims cut from Aluminum, exactly the same shape and size as the rubber radiator mounting pad but 1/4" thick. I measured and the difference is 1/4" They worked perfectly with 2 new bolts 1/4" longer. You can also use old brake rollers as shims. They are 1/4" thick and have the proper diameter hole in center. Good Luck
