Default Still sober

Hello all; It's sixteen years as of today, one day at a time. And it's NOT about me. I just need to inform and remind people, help and hope are a phone call away from your local directory or the internet. I've taken an annual liberty to post my sobriety date since Shelly had the Barn, except for last year because I got away from the internet, on the most part, for about a year. For anyone that needs help, you only have to admit it and reach out. After that it just keeps getting better. I wish you all a productive and uneventful day, Craig.

Me too, 31 years ago I took my last drink, actually quite a few. I thought I lost everything. 10 years stuck in a bottle of Jim Beam. With the help of the Lord and a good woman, I'm able to help others.
Take care.

What a great message!! It is difficult for most people to FIRST admit they have a problem and SECOND realize THEY are the problem. Another friend has been sober 8 years and it required 3 rehab treatment centers to convince him.

I wish you continued success and congratulate you.

Oh, one more thing----you forgot to mention you have the best, most rewarding and satisfying job in America!!

Best Regards,
JWL

Thanks for the message Craig. Fortunately, I've never had a problem with alcohol, but have friends who have, and know what they have gone through. Now, smoking was another story for me, and I managed to kick that habit around 1980 after smoking for about 30 years. Hopefully, overcoming these bad habits/addictions will give us a little extra time with family, friends, and old Fords.

Good for you Craig! I quit drinking in 1996 as I was tired of feeling like hell in the morning and people questioning my judgment. I still feel like hell in the morning
and people still question my judgment...I think it's just middle age. I have a nice
driver 1948 Ford business coupe in the garage. If I was still drinking I would've
spent just as much and not had the car.

My Dear Brother in Christ - Again I salute you, and understand exactly from where you come! After directing the Drug Court (which includes an alcohol component) for the past 16 years, I know that yours is an incredible accomplishment - and now you continue to bring happiness to so many with your ministry with to-die-for dogs! Congratulations!

I started a long winded post about my mom's drinking, but just deleted it it because it was what it was, and after 40 years of sobriety in meetings she just passed in he fall. . I have nothing but good feelings about the programs that helped her pass with nothing but good feelings and love in her wonderful heart.

I do something similar with quitting smoking, it helps remind me how far I've come. I have a little computer program that constantly tallies up how I'm doing.

Seventeen years, four months, three days, 3 hours, 49 minutes and 29 seconds. 316657 cigarettes not smoked, saving $139,328.58. Life saved: 3 years, 12 hours, 5 minutes.

Reminds me of my dad, As a returning WWII soldier he tried to drink away Combat and life as a POW in Germany. It didn't work! He did recognize it and went to AA and as he always said met some of the finest people he had ever known. We were lucky he didn't let it take his family down the tubes. He really was a great father! To all that have the courage to admit and accept help, God Bless you!

Hat's off to anyone who has overcome any type of bad addiction. I believe if I had not stopped smoking 37 years ago, there's a good chance that I would not be here now spending some great times with family and friends, and enjoying these early Ford V-8's so much.
