Default Top Strap Brackets

Can anybody provide a picture and or measurements to allow me to place the top loop strap brackets on a 31 Std. Roadster in the proper location. Somebody must have replaced the wooden top bow in the past so there are no indications of where the brackets were originally mounted. If I center them over the top rests (grab bars), it appears that they will fasten to the wooden bow and the metal top frame but there are no holes in the metal at that exact location. Thanks.

Try putting your top down and see where the straps need to be to hook into the rests, then place the loops on the front bow and line them up. Hope this helps.

I had the same question for my 1931 deluxe roadster and used the location of the holes in the top boot as a guide to located the position of the hold down strap brackets on the header.

OK. Thanks guys. Sounds like trial and error. I am not at the point of putting a top on let alone buying a boot so I may wait until that time. I just have the bare frame and I thought that there would be screw holes in the appropriate spots.

Thanks Randy. That helps. Looks like a Deluxe but I assume the bracket location would be the same.
