Supposedly 6 came to New Zealand.
Graham this is Cabriolet you were probably thinking of it was restored in the South Island with green tinted windows and the owner then sold it to someone in the North Island who sold it to Roy Rowe who had it for some time and then sold it to another owner who on sold it to someone in U.S and one photo shows it for sale in U.S. and the other photo shows it dismantled on a trailer for sale and apparently it is a now a Hotrod in U.S.

They were popular on UK roads in the day with roll up windows better for our poor climate.

Photos believed to have been taken in the 50's or early 60's
here's the original owner of my cabriolet, Mr Gwylim Rice-Evans.

Shortly after my acquisition of the cabriolet in the early eighties I managed to contact Mr Rice-Evans. A fascinating character. Not only a Brooklands time keeper but apparently also worked with Barns Wallace on the development of the bouncing bomb.

Rice Evans was not a stickler for originality as the photos portray !

Maybe Duece Addict or you tiger1000
Can speak about the fender marker lights, it appears from your car tiger & the "old" photo's the marker lights "look" as if the cowl lights (Here in the US) were moved to the fender and turned vertical....is this the case??? And in the later pictures of your car, Tiger, they were changed for more aerodynamic ones??? I assume that was changed and the older ones were "factory" lights??? Or where there different suppliers for such???

Thanks
Robert

No Robert, they are very different. Have attached a couple of pics to show but UK sidelights are smaller than US cowl lights and have a totally different mounting. They too have flatter lenses that mirror the UK headlamp glass which again is different to the US counterpart (both in the pattern and the moulding which is on the outside on UK versus inside on US as pic below).

To add to that we also had variants - some with chromed steel bowls and rims, some that were all stainless and a commercial version with black painted steel bowls and either painted rims or polished stainless. Even then there were different lenses too such as the commercial ones in pics below!

Here's another photo of the U.K. fender lamp used on '32s as well as on the '33-'34 Model 14 (the somewhat updated '32). This one is on the fender of a Model 14. A tear-drop shaped fender lamp was adopted on U.K. models 40 ('33-34) as shown on the second photo.

Interesting how German 32's by and large didn't use the fender marker lights but by 35 and moving forward they were more common in Germany. I think the type/style at that point was up to the individual Karrosserie as evidence by the ones on our 35, never seen another pair like these. Sorry for the "clarity" of them!!!
