Default Help w/ '30 Deluxe Roadster Assembly

Hey guys, I'm 15 just getting into the hobby that my dad and grandpa have been in for years. We have a '30 A Deluxe Roadster that we're restoring and it hasn't progressed in years, and I'm trying to get something done for my 16th birthday. We bought the disassembled body because our original wasn't too great from Brookeville Roadster a couple years back and picked it up from the Pleasanton Car Show. Its been sitting in boxes since. Fitting panels, fenders and doors isn't our area of expertise and no shops around us that I've contacted do that kind of work. We need the body fitted before it can go to paint and then we can progress but until then we're on idle with the project. What should I do to be able to find someway to get the A built?

Here's a couple pictures of where we're at now, its a running chassis

My dad and I restored my 30 rdst PU when I was your age. That was 45 years ago but it was a great time. If I were you I would contact Brookville to see if they know of someone in your area that could help.

If you post photos of what you have got I'm sure someone could make suggestions of what you need.

I assume a new body is panels only, and you'll need hinges, pins, bolts/nuts and locks/latches to hang the doors.
Once you have all the bits it should be fairly obvious where they go.

Our 1930 roadsters have so much wood framing and floor structure that it probably makes the judging standards look like a hot rod bible.
Anyway, its always good to see photos of what a steel one looks like.

I've only had personal experience with 28-29 Brookville doors, but they were spot on perfect. I've heard the same about their complete Model A bodies. What is it about the Brookville body that "wasn't too great"? Worse case, that body is worth about $7k and would finance a lot of your project.

I think he means that the original wasn't too great.

X2

I've also only heard good things about their body, though I've never worked with one. Some years ago a young gal and her dad did an open pickup and it looked great.

Welcome to Fordbarn.

You are on the right track trying to find someone, but I must admit that whomever you find needs to have jigs & fixtures specifically for this body. We have the jigs & fixtures, and so does a guy in Pennsylvania named Flop (real name is Tom), but outside of that, you may be better off to ship the body back to Ohio and have it done there. Many of the parts you received need to be fitted to make the body complete. The parts are not 'plug & play'. There is a good 40-50 hours in assembling one correctly.
