Battery Disconnect Switch
Going to install a disconnect switch in my 30 coupe. The previous owner moved the battery to the engine firewall. I'm thinking of mounting it either to the starter with the mount you can buy or the firewall and control it from inside. Question is, should I get a 2 pole, which I would hook up to the ground wire or a 4 pole so I could also disconnect the power going to the switch? Thinking 4 pole but not sure. That way everything would be cut off.

Re: Battery Disconnect Switch
Do what you like, either would work. If you only disconnect the ground, then nothing will work, no shorts. That’s the proper way to disconnect a battery. Others like the hot disconnected.

Re: Battery Disconnect Switch
Summit Racing has the substantial types like the 2 pole # SUM G1432 (check amperage, load, etc.) which can come with long or short stems. It can be much easier when accessed from inside the car ( other options without cutting firewall) without having to open the hood. As Chuck states, install in series with the ground.
