Another back up light question-1950 Ford
One a 50' Crestliner, the back up lights come on only when the headlights are on. Is the power side of the back up light switch connected to the wrong place, or was this standard wiring at the time.??
Thanks for all the other answers on the back up lights!!

Re: Another back up light question-1950 Ford
You would not want the reverse/backup lights to be on if the car were parked engine off headlights off - transmission left in reverse.
Things can be wired anyway you envision. What conditions do you want the backup lights to come on? Reverse w/parking and or headlights on? Engine running? Key turned to run or accessories? Once you establish what you want, power the backup switch from there (such as coil position of ignition switch.) |

You're car is wired factory correct. It was not until later that people figured out that backup lights was a good warning for others around the car.

I believe the backup lights are supposed to wired to the taillight post on the light switch. That's what is indicated on the instructions sheet that came with my backup light kit. Pat
