Default Removing seam sealer

Search did not come up with answer.

I'm sandblasting doors and someone previously used seam sealer along some of the edges. Wha would take the seam sealer off or dissolve it?

Thanks,
Mitch

I just scrape it out before blasting.

A heat gun or propane torch might be a big help.

Heat gun, I'd worry about too much heat of even fire with a torch.

Pooch is absolutely correct! The only good way is to scrape it or pick it out. sometimes when it has been in there a while and it is old it will harden. That makes for an easy job on cleaning it out. I work with the stuff everyday. Nasty!!!

I had to use a narrow putty knife and scrape mine out. It was old enough that once you got under it, worked the knife and it came off.

Drill with a wire brush in it works well. Taken off tons of it.

Yes I like Curt's idea. A cheap wire wheel in a drill, keep it very low speed and the sealer peels off with no metal damage.

Curts idea is best for speed could use a harberfreight grinder with a stiff wire wheel. Works good for me ..

I use a cheap grinder with an expensive twisted wirewheel --the cheap wirewheels shed too much.
