Acme TR-83 valve stems.
I bought a box of prewar Bicycle parts. I found a small case of valve stems with the stuff. 5 Acme TR 83 valve stems. I knew right away what they were! The only information I can find is in the Judging Standards. Pretty sure these are nos.How rare are these Stems?
Thanks Wick My picture won't upload. Last edited by Wick; 09-29-2019 at 04:30 AM. |

Re: Acme TR-83 valve stems.
nice find, are the covers machined out of solid brass, or are they pressed like the Schrader covers. the originals are pressed. the original covers are hard to come by.

Re: Acme TR-83 valve stems.
As mentioned, the dust covers are more rare than the stems. The lettering on them should be very faint as typical of Acme stems. I have probably three sets of NOS Acme stems but not enough dust covers to make complete stems. Nice find.

Re: Acme TR-83 valve stems.
Wick I can`t tell by the picture and I could not get a good close up of mine. but on the top side of the rim nut there should be a little detail that fallows around the hex nut. like and extra line.

Re: Acme TR-83 valve stems.
Here are a couple of pictures of original Acme stems with original dust covers. You can also see the knurled core remover and cap. These dust covers have more rounded edges as well as the faint lines in the vertical flutes.

Re: Acme TR-83 valve stems.
I'll have them with me at Hershey if anyone wants to look and tell me more about what they are.
Thanks |
