Re: My car
Its last a pretty long time. We usually wrap it around 3 times. The only time we replace it is when we have to take off the muffler for some reason.

Re: My car
They don't hit the brake rods at all while turning. I just kept the normal size firestones in the wheel wells. I have really long legs, and the AC never seems to get in my way. But even if it did, the comfort of having it here in TX would still be enough to make me want one.

Have you been able to take your Mom on a little ride in the A? May be good for her recovery. I think you have made YOUR car very unique and the way YOU want. No hate from this guy. Those are NOS ty-raps holding the water bottle hoses aren't they? lol |

Re: My car
Last time i check, my car has all metal pieces, no power steering, no disc brakes, it's not an automatic, & it doesn't have a pinto motor. So it's not a shay.

Re: My car
please stop trying to poke fun at people's cars or starting drama on this thread. I specifically asked for that not to happen.

Re: My car
That is a holley carb off of a 6 cyl ford falcon i believe. At least thats what i was told when I bought it. They took a stock intake manifold, drilled a hole in the top, and i guess they brazed an adapter on the top for the down draft carb. The beauty about this intake is if your down draft starts acting up, or for some reason you want to go back to up draft, you just instal a block off plate on the down draft and go back to the stock carb which is what the car is running right now. It sits to high, so it needs a fuel pump, which is in the mail as i type this. Its a pretty cool set up, a lot of people look at it and think its using both down and up draft at the same time. The throttle linkage for the down draft is taken off at this time because you have to take it off to run the updraft

Re: My car
I love it very similar to our 1929 Town Sedan. Hope to see you along the Model A highway. We will be in Marquette look for the Model A Times booth and say hello.

However, in averaging 6,000 to over 10,000 miles in a very short Canadian driving season with an original open car, I would have to take issue in your statement, "I can tell you I do drive my model A a lot more than the people who are on here preaching to stay all original." :roll eyes:

Re: My car
Very nice looking car.. a lot going on in the engine for my liking but I'm guessing that's the AC unit in the front seat? How long does it take before it's cold inside? Nice to own a vehicle that your Grandpa and Grandma had int he family... we have 6 Model A's in total and they will never leave the family... I guess i'm going to have to get a bigger garage!
Keep on driving it!!!! Justin
