Default Flathead speed and machine

About 3-4 yrs ago I read where the owner of a side business called Flathead Speed and Machine was working on installing fuel injection into old Stromberg 97's. I tried multiple times to contact the company with no response. I see the website is still up. Anybody know what is going on?

Back when I was vintage circle track racing, There were a couple of guys who ran 3/4 midgets with Crosley engines. They ran 97's "converted to Fuel Injection". They had the worst running cars in the club, and were lucky if they could complete the "Hot Laps".

I don't doubt there is "no response". Some things are just not meant to be.

Back in the 60's I saw a set of Stromberg bases converted to injection. They were turned sideways and bolted to a base plate that fit the flathead block. It looked exactly like what it was, a quasi Hilborn. They had the bases bored and ram tubes pressed in. Used a Hilborn barrel valve and nozzles. It made the engine run but not too well. Judging from the workmanship on the rest of the car, I don't think the problem was the injectors though.

Scott injection systems used the Stromberg base. Very simple design with a single "nozzle" dump in between the throttle plates. Most difficult to get set up for running gasoline but claims were made about viability for that purpose. I only used them for Alky where the mixture could be off a mile and still run OK.

I fought with a Hilborn system on a "Y" block drag car untill I talked to Red Willson of Clay Smith cams. He said He uses a 1" return line so the "pill" can do it's job. Solved all my problems
